Organic Waste Diverted & Upcycled
Why the Black Soldier Fly?
Hermetia illucens is nature's most efficient recycler. In roughly 40 days it converts low-value organic waste into protein-rich larvae — with no pest risk and minimal inputs.
High Adaptability & Tropical Tolerance
Thrives at 25–35 °C and high humidity — ideal for West African climates with simple, low-energy housing.
Self-Harvesting & Disease-Free
Mature pre-pupae crawl out of the substrate on their own, and BSF are not known vectors of human or livestock disease.
0% Adult Feeding — Non-Pest
Adults have no functional mouthparts. They don't eat, bite, sting or enter homes — they simply mate and lay eggs.
Rapid Lifecycle, Exponential Reduction
Larvae can reduce organic waste volume by 50–80% in under three weeks while multiplying their own body mass.
A harmless fly with a powerful appetite — but only as a larva.
Every gram of feed we produce starts with a healthy adult colony. Because adults never feed, all of the conversion happens at the larval stage — where waste becomes protein, oil and frass.
From Organic Waste to Finished Product
Our modular facility design separates every stage of the value chain for maximum biosecurity, traceability and yield.

Larva Production & Waste Bioconversion
Pre-sorted organic waste — market scraps, brewery spent grain, agro-processing residue — is fed to 5-day-old larvae in stacked rearing crates. Over 12–14 days they eat, grow up to 10,000× their hatch weight and reduce waste volume dramatically.
- Controlled substrate moisture (60–70%)
- Stacked crate racking for high density per m²
- Harvest at 5th instar for maximum protein

Hatching & Nursery
Egg clutches collected from the insectarium are incubated on a nutrient-rich starter feed. Neonate larvae are raised in a protected nursery for 5 days before being dosed into the larvarium at a precise count per crate.
- Stable 27–30 °C incubation environment
- Colour-coded crates for batch traceability
- Standardised dosing for consistent yields

Adult Colony & Breeding
A portion of each batch is allowed to pupate and emerge as adults inside netted love-cages. Using natural light and humidity control, adults mate and lay eggs on wooden egg-traps — sustaining the colony indefinitely.
- Netted cages with natural/supplemental light
- Adults require no feed — only water mist
- Each female lays 400–800 eggs
Drying, Separation, Milling & Oil Extraction
Harvested larvae are converted into shelf-stable, market-ready products under food-safe protocols. Nothing is wasted — every output has a buyer.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. Adult BSF have no functional mouthparts, so they don't feed, bite or seek out human spaces. Larval activity even suppresses house-fly breeding in the same waste.
Very little. Because processing equipment is shared at the cluster hub, new operators only need a small shaded space and starter crates — many of which are provided through partner-funded starter packs.
Yes. BSF meal is widely used in poultry, aquaculture and pig diets. Our meal is heat-treated and batch-tested for protein, fat, moisture and microbial load before release.
Pre-consumer fruit and vegetable waste, brewery spent grain, cassava and palm-processing residues, and other plant-based agro-industrial by-products. We do not accept hazardous or contaminated waste.
